Today, October 5, 2019, I joined another meetup.com group called Off The Grid Adventures to explore 18 waterfalls between Tallulah Falls and Clarksville, GA. There were seven of us in two SUVs. This “adventure” was a hike and drive with none of the hikes being longer than 1 mile. The road leading to the hikes required a sturdy enough automobile due to the gravel and inclines/declines. We met at the Park ‘n Ride lot on Wallis Road across from Hi-Tech gas stations off I985, exit 17. We started out around 10AM.
Our first large waterfall stop was at Minnehaha Falls. There are at least 3 other mini falls on the way up to the large fall. The terrain has some slight inclines with lots of roots. The hike in is less than a half mile and I would rank as easy effort.
There were many stops along the route where you would park are the rode and walk over to a mini waterfall. The last major waterfall we visited we stopped for 20 minutes for lunch. This waterfall is called Crow Creek Falls. There were at least 3 other falls on the way to the main fall, one of which was visible from the road.
The hike into Crow Creek was less than a half mile. There were a lot less roots on the ground, mostly leaves. We setup lunch right alongside the waterfall.
After leaving Crow Creek Falls we headed over to Clarksville which was on our journey home. Our last relatively large waterfall was behind a shop. I didn’t capture the name of the shop but they sold all hand made goods. You can sit out on their back porch and watch the waterfall. They even had a waterfall below the store.
On our way back to the Park ‘n Drive we stopped at an apple store, Jaemor Pie Kitchen, for some goodies. Their pies are delightful. The trip ended around 4PM.
